SpokAnimal’s

Wildfire Pet Support & Resources

If you and your pets have been impacted by the Spokane-area wildfires, SpokAnimal is here to help. We’re providing free temporary boarding, pet food and supplies, help with lost and found pets and other resources for families affected by the fires.

If you need somewhere safe for your pet to stay

Through our Guardian Angel program, we’re providing free temporary boarding for pets of people displaced by the fires. Your pet will be cared for by our team, and you can visit while they’re staying with us. More than 100 displaced pets have already received care through this program.

If you find a pet in or near the fire zone

Bring them to SpokAnimal. We’ll scan them for a microchip and do everything we can to reunite them with their family.

We’re holding animals displaced by the fires longer than our usual stray-hold period to give families more time to find them. We understand that paperwork may have been lost in the fires, so proof of ownership can include microchip information, photos or other ways of identifying your pet.

If a found animal needs emergency medical treatment, we’ll help coordinate their care.

If your pet is missing

Check Petco Love Lost, a national lost-and-found pet database used by SpokAnimal and other local animal welfare organizations.

You can also contact us about resources available to help search for pets in fire-affected areas, including loaner traps, bait food and other supplies.

If you need pet food or supplies

Come and see us at our Event Center, at 715 N. Crestline Street in Spokane. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we have free pet food available for displaced families, along with a limited supply of leashes, bowls and other pet supplies.

We’re also providing pet food and supplies at local disaster assistance and evacuation sites.

If you need help with a pet who died in the fires

We’re deeply sorry. SpokAnimal is partnering with a local crematorium to provide free cremation assistance for families whose pets died as a result of the fires. Please contact us and we’ll help you with next steps.

We’re also helping throughout the community

Our staff and volunteers are supporting pets and their families at evacuation and disaster assistance sites, providing animal care, pet food, crates and supplies, and working with our community partners as needs evolve.

Want to Help?

We’re incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve received. If you’d like to help, please contact us about volunteer and foster opportunities. Our team is extremely busy responding to the fires, so it may take us a little longer than usual to return calls. Financial donations are also greatly appreciated and help us cover the unexpected costs of providing emergency boarding, medical care, food, supplies and other assistance to pets and families impacted by the fires. We stand with everyone who has been impacted by these devastating fires.
